Prof Guo Yuanqi had 30 years clinical experience after he obtained his Bachelor and Master degrees with specialty in acupuncture and moxibustion from the Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine(GZUCM). After graduation, he engaged in clinical, teaching and research work on acupuncture and moxibustion at Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He worked as Chief Physician, supervisor of Master degree students, successor of academic and medical experience of national famous Chinese medicine doctor. In the meantime, he underwent one year training in the Department of Neurology in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University and worked as Associate Professor in Yan Chai Hospital – CUHK Clinical Centre for Training & Research in Chinese Medicine for one and a half years. In March 2009, he came to Hong Kong under the quality migrant admission scheme. After that, he served as Professional Consultant at Chinese University of Hong Kong, supervisor for postgraduates, Professional Consultant at Pok Oi Hospital, Visiting Associate Professor at Chinese University of Hong Kong, co-supervisor of doctoral degree student at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, member of electronic health record (Chinese medicine) – TCM wordings project and Central Research Working Group of Hospital Authority, member of the expert groups on “Guideline on Safety in Acupuncture” and Chinese medicine specialist development in Hong Kong, Deputy Director of Professional Committee of Acupuncture of Hong Kong Registered Chinese Medicine Practitioners Association, Executive Director of Guangdong Provincial Association and Moxibustion, Standing Committee Member of First Professional Committee of Abdominal Acupuncture of China Association for Acupuncture and Moxibustion. Prof Guo’s research interests included acupuncture for pain, stroke and clinical application of abdominal acupuncture. He has published almost 50 Chinese medicine related articles in local and international journals.
